Help support a safe and successful return to work for injured employees.
Workforce Safety & Insurance (WSI) is launching a limited pilot program for employers interested in strengthening their return-to-work practices. Through this pilot, WSI will work closely with participating organizations to identify transitional work opportunities and provide guidance that supports employee recovery and business operations.
Employers interested in participating are encouraged to contact WSI to learn more.
Why Return to Work Matters
A safe and timely return to work can support recovery, help injured employees stay connected to the workplace, and reduce time away from work. Transitional or modified duties also help employers maintain operations by allowing employees to continue contributing in ways that align with medical restrictions.
What the Pilot Includes
WSI will visit the workplace to observe job tasks and identify opportunities for transitional duties that align with medical recommendations.
Participating employers will receive a report with recommendations based on their workplace, job duties, and operational needs.
WSI will provide consultation and support as employers implement transitional work options during the pilot.
Examples may include adjusted schedules, modified physical tasks, administrative support, or other light-duty assignments based on medical guidance and workplace needs.
How the Process Works
Step 1: Initial consultation
WSI will meet with the employer to discuss goals, current practices, and the workplace environment.
Step 2: On-site visit
WSI will conduct a job analysis and identify possible transitional work opportunities.
Step 3: Recommendations
The employer will receive a job analysis report with practical recommendations for transitional duties.
Step 4: Follow-up support
WSI will provide ongoing support as recommendations are implemented and feedback is gathered.
What Participating Employers Can Expect
Employers participating in the pilot will collaborate with WSI throughout the process, review and consider recommended transitional work options, and provide feedback to help shape future return-to-work resources and best practices.
Benefits for Employers
Participating employers may benefit from:
- Practical tools to support employee recovery
- Reduced time away from work and less disruption to operations
- Stronger communication around work restrictions and transitional duties
- An opportunity to help inform future return-to-work strategies
