The 2015 North Dakota Legislative Assembly amended North Dakota Century Code (N.D.C.C.) to address the legal protection of a healthcare provider when disclosing medical information to WSI.

WSI collaborated with key stakeholders to introduce House Bill 1159 and the bill unanimously passed both houses. Governor Jack Dalrymple signed it into law on March 19, 2015, to be effective immediately. The amendments to N.D.C.C. 65-05-30 serve to: 1) clarify the ability of a healthcare provider to provide certain information to WSI to assist in making decisions on a claim, and 2) preclude disciplinary or other proceedings affecting licensure against a health care provider for making these disclosures to WSI.
