The 2021 North Dakota Legislative Assembly enacted a change to North Dakota Century Code §65-01-02(21) adding physical therapist to the definition of health care provider. Effective August 1, 2021, this change permits a physical therapist to serve as the primary treating provider for an injured employee covered by Workforce Safety & Insurance (WSI).

A physical therapist interested in becoming the primary treating provider for an injured employee may wish to review WSI’s Quick Reference for Physical Therapist as Primary Treating Provider for additional information and resources.
