Frequently Asked Questions
Do I still need to file a claim if the dollar value is minimal?
The value of the claim is not important. If an injury was caused by your work, a claim should be filed. If you are not sure whether you should file a claim, file it and WSI will make a decision whether it is payable under the law.
I am receiving bills from the medical provider - what should I do?
A medical provider may not legally bill you for the difference between what the WSI fee schedule allows for payment and the amount that is actually charged by the medical provider. If you receive a bill for treatment of your work injury, do not pay the bill. You should contact your health care provider's insurance department and provide them with your claim number and request that all bills be submitted to WSI. If you are not sure whether WSI will pay for certain medical bills, please call our Customer Service Department at (701) 328-3800 or 1-800-777-5033.
I know someone who is committing workers' compensation fraud, what should I do?
Please contact our Fraud and Safety HotLine at 1-800-243-3331 and report any suspected workers' compensation fraud. Your report will be kept confidential upon request. It is important that everyone be on the lookout for all types of fraud and take steps to end it.
