What to do if Injured Facts/Statistics Helpful Links

The Loss Control Department of WSI recognizes that as teenagers start working they are not only learning new skills but are environments that can injure the new worker. While it is the employer’s legal obligation to train all workers on the hazards that employees are exposed to, WSI provides the following information to help insure a safe experience for the young worker.

In North Dakota there are on average 760 claims filed for workers 19 and under each year. For all ages of workers, a majority of WSI claims occur to workers with less than a year on the job. Together these statistics indicate that a new teen worker has a serious risk of injury.
