Loss Control
There was a suggestion that WSI get the CEO's support for better internal safety procedures to ensure consistency when completing timely Incident and First Report of Injury reports.
Our WSI Loss Prevention Specialists have incorporated mandatory CEO participation with the Safety Outreach Program. The specialists are working with employers on their action plans to address this concern.
A request was made on whether WSI would provide front line supervisor and/or manager triage training for minor work injuries vs. having employees automatically sent to a medical facility.
It is WSI's recommendation that employers contact their local American Red Cross office to set up first aid training for their employees or access the free WSI online video resource library. The WSI video library is located at www.workforcesafety.com. By clicking on the green safety tab on the left side of the home page screen, then click on Video Resource Library, you can pull up all the available videos. Employers can use up to 3 videos for 2 weeks at a time.
The question was asked if WSI could provide either a program or a resource to employers to assist them with educating their workers on the importance of timely reporting.
WSI does not have a specific training program other than the information we share regarding our incident report; however by doing a timely claims reporting internet search under MSN.com or Google, several sites and articles are available. If the employer is having excessive timely reporting problems, WSI staff can work with the employer to trouble shoot what may be causing the situation.
