Assessments

A question/concern was raised if an employee doesn't notify the employer of an injury until days later, does the employer lose the chance for the $250.00 assessment waiver? Also they thought the late notification would be held against them in their loss run or experience rate calculations.

The employee should be educated that immediate notification of an incident or injury is required as part of their job. The incident report has a notification date section for instances when this procedure isn't met and Workforce Safety & Insurance (WSI) staff will review all written explanations for reconsideration of the charge. There are no other ramifications on the employers account other than the $250.00 assessment charge per claim.
